Acer Nitro 5 (an515-57) Automatically Shuts Down – Event ID 41, 6008

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my Acer Nitro 5 where it automatically shuts down after running for about 10–20 minutes. There’s no blue screen or warning — it just powers off completely.

When I checked the Event Viewer, it shows the following:

• Event ID 41 (Kernel-Power)
• Event ID 6008 (Unexpected Shutdown)

I’ve noticed that before the shutdown, my mouse sometimes starts “loading” as if an application is about to open, but nothing appears.

I’ve already tried basic troubleshooting steps like cleaning the fans, updating drivers, and checking for overheating, but the problem still occurs.

Can anyone please help me identify what might be causing this or suggest a possible fix?

Specs:

• Acer Nitro 5 (i5-11400H, RTX 3050)
• 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD + 1TB HDD
• Windows 11

Its mostly likely hardware issue.

Check hardware components

Run a memory diagnostic: A faulty RAM stick can cause the system to crash.

Press the Windows key + R, type mdsched.exe, and press Enter.

Restart your computer and follow the on-screen instructions to run the diagnostic test.

Reseat the RAM: If you are comfortable doing so, open the laptop and physically remove and re-insert your RAM modules to ensure a proper connection.

Check for driver issues:

Update your drivers: Use the Driver Easy tool or visit the Acer website directly to download and install the latest drivers for your model.

Roll back drivers: If the issue started after a recent driver update, you may need to roll back to a previous version. 

Adjust power settings

Incorrect power settings can sometimes trigger these errors.

1. Open Control Panel and go to Power Options.
2. Click Change plan settings for your current plan, then select Change advanced power settings.
3. Expand Processor power management and set the Maximum processor state to 99% for both "On battery" and "Plugged in." This can prevent the CPU from over-boosting and causing heat-related issues.
4. Expand the Sleep settings and disable Hybrid sleep to prevent hibernation conflicts.
