Predator Helios Neo 16S AI AI PHN16S-71 not charging using 100W PD charger

Hi,

I have an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI PHN16S-71 laptop. I have a Thunderbolt 4 Dock from Amazon Basics. The laptop occasionally does 100W PD charging from the dock but most of the time does not charge. Have tried everything I could and am not able to find a fix for it. But the laptop does charge when it's turned off. I have tried putting the laptop in Eco Mode plus Battery Saver so that the total wattage needed is less than 100W but even then the laptop doesn't charge from the PD charger. Is there any work around for the same since the laptop's manual does say PD Charging up to 100W.

• he PHN16 series uses hybrid power management: AC barrel plug for full performance and DC USB-C PD as a fallback.

• For stable operation, the battery must be charged above 50%, and the barrel-type power adapter should remain plugged in continuously.

• USB-C PD (100W) charging is supported only when the battery is above 40%, but it will trigger “Low Power” state warnings and reduced performance.

• Thunderbolt 4 supports up to 100W DC power delivery—claims of 230W USB-C charging are incorrect and refer to future Thunderbolt 5 systems.

• USB-C chargers must be specifically designed for laptops, with a fixed heavy-duty 5A DC cord and integrated Fast Charging circuitry.

• Generic 100W GaN chargers are unsuitable; they cannot recover a fully depleted battery and will enter low-power fallback mode.

• USB-C PD should be treated strictly as an emergency backup—not a replacement for the original barrel-type AC adapter.

• For full performance and safe charging, always use the OEM 230W brick adapter supplied with the laptop.
