Touchpad not working on Stable channel, but works perfectly on Beta (Acer Chromebook Spin 514)
Hello everyone,
I am experiencing a persistent issue with the touchpad on my Acer Chromebook and I'm hoping to find a solution or report it effectively.
Device Information:
Model: Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 (CPE594-1N-TCO)
Channel: Stable
Up to date
Problem Description & Troubleshooting Steps: The touchpad on my device stops working whenever I am on the Stable channel. Here is the timeline of events:
- The issue first appeared about two-three months ago after a regular update on the Stable channel.
- To troubleshoot, I switched my device to the Beta channel. The moment the Beta version was installed, the touchpad started working perfectly.
- I used the Beta channel for one month without any touchpad issues at all.
- Couple of days ago, I switched back to the Stable channel. The problem returned almost immediately – the touchpad is completely unresponsive again.
- I have tried every other recommended troubleshooting.
This behavior strongly suggests the problem is not a hardware failure, but rather a driver or software bug present in the Stable channel build for this specific device model.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thank you for your help.
