Windows Crashing Due to NVIDIA Graphics Driver on Acer Aspire A715-79G

Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire A715-79G about a month ago. Windows system has been crashing multiple times from day one. After some troubleshooting, I found that the issue is related to the NVIDIA graphics card.

I contacted Acer’s online chat support and followed their suggestions, including updating the drivers. Unfortunately, even after updating, the problem persisted. As a temporary workaround, I had to disable the NVIDIA driver to prevent further crashes.

Is anyone else facing a similar issue? Are there any known fixes or updates that address this?

To fix Windows crashes on an Acer Aspire A715-79G caused by the NVIDIA graphics driver, the most effective solution is to perform a clean installation of both the NVIDIA and integrated graphics driver. This process involves using a dedicated uninstaller tool to completely remove all driver components before installing a fresh, stable version. 

Uninstall existing drivers

1. Boot into Safe Mode:
2. Restart your PC. When you see the Acer logo, press and hold the power button to force a shutdown. Repeat this 3-5 times until you enter the Windows Recovery Environment.
3. Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings. Click Restart.
4. After the computer reboots, press 4 or F4 to enter Safe Mode.
5. Run DDU:
6. Open the Display Driver Uninstaller application.
7. Select GPU as the device type and NVIDIA as the device.
8. Click Clean and restart.
9. After the computer restarts in Normal Mode, repeat the process with DDU for your integrated graphics (Intel or AMD). 

Install the new drivers

1. Install the integrated GPU driver first. This is a crucial step for laptops with both integrated and dedicated graphics.
2. Run the installer you downloaded from Acer's website and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Install the NVIDIA driver:
4. Run the NVIDIA installer you downloaded.
5. When prompted for the installation type, choose Custom (Advanced).
6. Select the Perform a clean installation checkbox.
7. Complete the installation and restart your computer when prompted.
8. Reconnect to the internet after confirming the new drivers are installed and your system is stable.
