Games run super slow, display mode options grayed out unless connected to external monitor in Nitro AN17-41

I have a Nitro AN17-41 laptop. Lately, every time I open up a video game, if my laptop is not plugged into my second monitor, everything runs super slowly. There is extreme lag/low framerate that makes the games unplayable. As soon as I plug it into the other monitor, then presto, it works fine. I'd like to be able to play games without the external monitor, though. I've updated to the latest NVIDIA drivers. I checked the display mode options in the NVIDIA control panel, and Optimus is selected, and the option to select "NVIDIA GPU Only" is grayed out and won't let me select it. I haven't messed with any of the BIOS stuff, since I don't know much about it and don't want to break my computer. I'm up to date with the latest Windows updates. I don't know what else to do.

The laptop slowing down when using the internal AN17-41 laptops screen could be from numerous problems that are related to the screen connection like its eDP cable or the actual screen that is faulty. Have these components checked out or replace the eDP cable first (make sure when you do this, you first disconnect the main battery) as that is where the problem is if the AN17-41 operates perfectly through its HDMI port or its 2x USB Type-C™ port which are a DisplayPort over USB-C. Hope all this helps you out to solve this problem.

Replace the eDP appropriate cable for the appropriate refresher rate screen that your AN17-41 model has

17.3" screens that Acer fitted to the AN17-41 model laptop, to see the oem screen that your laptop has, install HWiNFO64 software and look for the model number under the Monitor section.

Its also essential that you update the bios in these AMD cpu laptops and make sure that Win-11 24H2 is updated to its last version OS build: 26100.6584, Then install the NVidia App and play all the supported games within the NVidia app settings.

Also, I suggest that you run at least 32GB 2x DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type of either Samsung or Micron (which is what Crucial ram sell) and at even as high as 64GB @ 2x 32GB modules 262 pin SODIMM for best gaming performance, as the AN17-41 laptops AMD Ryzen 5 and 7 cpu's operate allot better in gaming with more ram and the ram modules listed below that Acer has tested this laptop with fully.
