I’m using an Acer Aspire 7 and recently I noticed a couple of issues after a BIOS/Windows update:
- The laptop heats up quickly, even when I’m just browsing or doing light tasks.
- During gaming or video editing, the performance suddenly drops (FPS drops, stuttering).
- The fan sometimes runs at full speed but doesn’t seem to cool it down much.
What I’ve tried so far:
Updated all drivers through Acer Care Center and Windows Update.
- Cleaned the vents and checked for dust.
- Changed the Windows power plan and Acer’s power settings to “High Performance.”
But the problems are still there. Has anyone else with an Acer laptop faced overheating and throttling after recent updates? Should I try rolling back the BIOS or undervolting, or is this more of a hardware cooling issue (thermal paste/fans)?
Any tips would be really helpful — thanks!
