Hi,
I've trouble using my Acer Swift SF114-34-P854. It's "brand new", but 2 years old. I used it 4 times before. To check, if everything's alright and trying some Linux distros. I remember it being somewhat unhandy then, but always working. I think I got battery trouble once because disconnecting the battery was something I did before and I'm pretty sure, it wasn't it's predecessor (also an Acer Swift 1).
I don't know where to begin because everything might affect everything else. So I'll put the hierachy which makes me more content in being successfull.
Battery
The battery problem might lead to the random EFI resets and setbacks. Also it the most "troublesome" of a broken brand new component...
The battery won't charge. At all. Neither powered off nor in EFI shell, UEFI BIOS, USB live system, Distro 1, Distro 2. In EFI shell and BIOS mode the laptop gets quiet warm, but no charging. Booted into one of the Distros it's cooling down pretty fast, no charging.
Battery reset does nothing. I think about trying the reset button in a powered state...
Or opening the case and removing the battery.
The battery system info in both Distros says it's in 100% condition, 53/53Wh capacity, 12.5V, 0Wh charged, charging pending.
What can I do? I've no idea.
UEFI
The UEFI changes the boot priority on its own. Maybe due to power loss? But sometimes in between reboots.
It's annoying to configure everything and after 1-2 reboots some random setting are set back, some stay the same, boot priority is random.
The password luckily is stable.
Is there a way to fix this? Reset everything? The laptop sometimes get stuck in a reboot loop after disabling secure boot and/or fast boot. No consistent behavior.
Preferred boot priority 1 is Distro2 as it shows all boot options. Somehow it changes to Distro1 oder EFI shell by itself.
Is there a way to fix the EFI system? It's absolutely annoying trying to troubleshoot an issue if the EFI system changes by random and you have to reboot to find out what changed this time which changes again a random thing after rebooting...
Maybe I can make a real advancement, if I can get a hold one of those things!
Thanks a lot!
