Blackouts on my Nitro V15 with RTX 4050 - Need Advice

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some help with a persistent issue on my Nitro V15-51-541P. I've been getting blackouts while gaming, and after some testing, I found that capping my RTX 4050's clock speed from 2.58GHz down to 2.0GHz seems to have resolved the problem.

I've already had thermal repasting done by Acer, but the issue came back. While my solution seems to be working for now, I'm concerned about what's causing this.

Is it normal for this GPU to experience blackouts at its stock clock speed? I'm curious if this points to an issue with the power delivery or a deeper hardware problem.

Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. It's frustrating to feel like you're not getting the full performance you paid for, much like buying a beautiful window but realizing you have to use SR Blinds to keep the light at a comfortable level. You know it's a good window, but something's just not quite right.

Hi Amni – your testing already shows that capping the GPU clock helps with stability, but there’s another angle worth trying. On some Nitro V15 systems, the CPU’s boost behavior can also trigger blackouts by spiking power draw and heat at the same time the GPU is under load.

You can disable CPU boost in Windows power settings like this:– Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Advanced power settings– Expand Processor power management > Processor performance boost mode– Set both On battery and Plugged in to Disabled (see picture).

If you don’t see the “Processor performance boost mode” option, you can unhide it in the Registry:– Press Win+R, type regedit, and navigate toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7– Double‑click Attributes and change the value from 1 to 2– Restart, then check the Advanced Power Settings again

Disabling CPU boost reduces sudden spikes and can complement the GPU clock cap you’re already using. It’s not a perfect fix—you’ll lose some peak performance—but it often makes the system much more stable until Acer provides a firmware or power management update.
