acer XV240Y Monitor mount release thingy broke

i bought a monitor arm and when i wanted to take off my original monitor mount, i think i pulled the little pulley thing in the image too hard which is supposed to make the mount let go of the monitor. now its just loose like that and i cant take the mount off.

(wish i could show a video to see it better but the website wouldn't let me since i just signed up for an account)

really wanna fix this because my original monitor mount is kinda ugly and takes way too much space, plus the money that i spent to buy a new monitor arm would be wasted :( really stupid of me shouldn't have pulled so hard when it started getting stiffer to pull. not sure if warranty's still on this thing but i don't wanna wait a month to get it back.

if it helps, my monitor is an acer XV240Y. if i need to give more info about it please let me know I'll gladly tell more to fix this. I've asked on so many platforms except this acer support page and i'm so tired of getting absolutely zero responses.
