Issue: Only the built-in laptop microphone appears as an input. The wired headset mic (single 3.5 mm TRRS plug) is not detected anywhere in Sound settings or Control Panel. Audio output through the headset works; mic does not.
System details:
- Model: Acer Aspire 3 A315-56
- OS: Windows 11 (build via winver)
- Audio: Realtek Audio (UAD)
- Driver version: 6.0.9000.1
What I’ve tried:
- Hardware checks: Headset mic works on another device.
- Windows settings: Settings → System → Sound → Input shows only laptop mic; Privacy & security → Microphone enabled for system and apps; Control Panel → Sound → Recording shows no new device, even with disabled/disconnected devices shown.
- Drivers: Updated via Device Manager; reinstalled Realtek driver; no fix.
- Ran Recording Audio troubleshooter; no fix
Im at the end of my wits. What is the correct way to enable or force the combo audio jack on the A315-56 to recognize a CTIA TRRS headset microphone? If this requires a specific Realtek driver/extension, BIOS/EC update, or a setting (e.g., jack detection/“Headset” mode), please point me to the exact download or steps.
