Why is the right speaker on my Acer Swift Go 14 EVO laptop producing distorted sound, while the left speaker works perfectly fine?

Hello Acer Community,

I’ve been experiencing a problem with my Acer Swift Go 14 EVO laptop. For the past few days, the right speaker has been producing distorted sound, whereas the left speaker sounds perfectly fine.

I mainly use the speakers for my online classes, which last around 4 hours and 30 minutes daily at full volume. I do not use the speakers much outside of that. Despite this, the distortion issue seems to be getting worse.

To troubleshoot, I have already updated all the audio drivers, but unfortunately, it did not solve the issue.

Here are some more details:

• SNID: XXXXXXXXXXX
• Purchase Date: October 2024
• Issue: Right speaker produces distorted audio; left speaker is normal
• Usage Pattern: 4.5 hours daily at full volume for online classes
• Drivers: Updated, but issue still persists
• Service Center: There is no nearby Acer service center, so I am unable to visit one at the moment.

Could anyone please suggest a possible solution or a workaround that I can try at home? Is this a hardware issue or something that can be fixed through software or settings?

The issue of crackling in the right speaker, specifically at higher volumes, likely stems from a loose connection or a faulty component within the speaker itself or its wiring. Since headphones work fine, the problem is localized to the built-in speaker system. Ensure the speaker wires are not near power wires or other devices that could cause interference.

Dust and debris can accumulate on the speaker drivers and affect sound quality. Asurion recommends cleaning the speaker grill and drivers with a soft brush or compressed air.

Ensure the speaker cables are firmly connected to the amplifier or sound card. Disconnect and reconnect them to make sure they're seated properly. If you're comfortable with basic electronics, check for loose connections within the speaker enclosure or its wiring. If the crackling persists when you swap the speaker cables to the right channel, it could indicate a problem with the left channel amplifier or sound card output. if the crackling stays with the same speaker even when swapping cables, it's likely a faulty speaker.
