Model: Acer Predator Helios Neo 18 AI PHN18-72
CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
BIOS: v1.07
My PHN18-72 experiences sudden, unexpected shutdowns during normal operation. The system doesn't display any warning messages, blue screens, or error dialogs - it simply powers off completely and requires pressing the power button to restart
Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:
- CPU maximum processor state limited to 90% in Windows Power Options
- Turbo Boost disabled to reduce heat and power consumption
- Performance mode switched from "Turbo" to "Balanced" in PredatorSense
- Problem persists even with these conservative settings
I've conducted extensive monitoring using HWiNFO64 and analyzed system telemetry data before shutdowns:
Temperatures (all within normal ranges):
- CPU cores: 72-76°C average (peak 81°C)
- VR VCC: 78-80°C (previously hit 100°C but now stable)
- GPU: 74-78°C
- GPU Memory Junction: 80-82°C
- All temperatures well below thermal throttling thresholds
Power Consumption (not the issue):
- Total system power: ~149W average (peak 155W)
- CPU power: ~32W
- GPU power: ~88W
- Well within 330W adapter capacity
System Stability Indicators:
- RAM usage: stable at 47%
- CPU frequencies: stable around 2000MHz
- Core voltages: stable at ~0.65V
- No significant fluctuations in any monitored parameters
Windows Event Viewer shows:
- Event ID 41 (Kernel-Power): "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first"
- Event ID 6008: "The previous system shutdown was unexpected"
- No blue screen dump files generated
- Various driver load failures after unexpected shutdown
Has anyone experienced similar random shutdowns with PHN18-72?
Is there a specific BIOS version that addresses Intel 275HX stability issues?
