Aspire TC-885 crashes with RTX 3050 Installed, screen goes blank, PC still running

Hi,

I have an Aspire TC-885 - Part Number: DT.BAPEK.037

I've got 32GB Ram

Intel i7-8700 Hexa-core (6 Core™) 8th Gen

Windows 11 Home

300W PSU but did upgrade to 650W

Not quite sure what else I need to tell you about the spec

I've got an Nvidia RTX-3050 graphics card that I have been trying to get to work, but everytime I put the card in it crashes and I have to reboot the PC - The PC is still running, it's just the screen goes blank. I've been onto Microsoft about this to see if I could get some help and they said it was the driver, so I went right back to a Feb 2025 driver but it was still happening, they then said it must be the hardware so I got a replacement GPU but I still have the same issue.

Is anyone able to help with this?

First, insert your old graphics card (if you had one instead of the iGPU). Then, download DDU and boot into Safe Mode. Run DDU, select “GPU” as the device type, and choose the brand of the old graphics card you inserted (or the iGPU brand). After that, click on “Clean and Shutdown.”

Once the system has shut down, remove the old card, insert your RTX 3050 properly, and connect the display/HDMI cable to the GPU port, not the motherboard port.

After booting, pause windows update then use ddu for nvidia then download and install nvidia driver 566.36. you can resume update after this
