I recently brought my Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58 to one of the authorized service centers due to persistent issues with both the Intel and NVIDIA display adapters after a clean format and installation of new OS.
Device & System Details
- Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58
- BIOS: InsydeH20 v2.18 (latest version applied)
- OS: Windows 11, fully updated
- Symptoms: Display adapter fails to initialize after Intel driver installation; only 60 Hz available despite 144 Hz screen.
Problem Summary
- After installing either Intel or NVIDIA graphics drivers, the system goes into a black screen, and upon reboot, the display adapters show a yellow warning triangle in Device Manager.
- Because of this, the system defaults to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and is locked to 60 Hz, preventing me from using the laptop’s 144 Hz display capability.
- Turning on the device sometimes freezes the acer logo if graphics driver are installed after being turned off or after a force shutdown due to black screen problem during mid-installation/installation of the new graphics driver (Intel and Nvidia)
- This problem persists even after:
- Full Windows 11 reinstall and downgrade test to Windows 10
- Installation of chipset + Intel ME drivers
- DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) use in Safe Mode
- Clean installs of both Acer-provided and Intel/NVIDIA-provided drivers
- BIOS update (InsydeH20 v2.18, latest version)
- Hard reset (main + CMOS battery disconnected and drained)
