Swift Go 14 N24C2 BIOS locked after linux Install, security password prompt and boot fail, need reset help

I have installed Ubuntu Linux on my 2 week old Swift Go 14. I noticed that I could not access the BIOS to upgrade it via the F2 key and was consistently prompted for a password. I did not set a password on the BIOS. In an attempt to reset the BIOS I removed the BIOS battery. The laptop now boots to a "Security Boot Fail" screen. When I attempt to access the BIOS via the F2 key I continue to get the password to access the BIOS so I cannot access any menu the laptop is now a brick.

Can ACER please advise how to reset the device so I can access the BIOS and allow my Linux OS to boot.

We cannot provide assistance in this forum for any BIOS or security password issues. Please take your new laptop to an Acer Service Center in your country for support.

Removing the RTC battery or shorting the CMOS will not clear a BIOS password on this model and may void your warranty. Acer technicians have the proper tools and procedures to reset the system safely.

Just for clarity are you inicating that if the RTC/CMOS battery is removed (or goes flat) the warranty is void?

I think all ACER customers should be aware of this.

I have been speaking with technical support and their response is to blame me. I just want the BIOS unlocked so I can make changes to the computer I purchased 2 months ago.

This response is very disappointing.

Hi cdann,

Replacing the RTC/CMOS battery will not void the Acer warranty in most countries, although this is not something normally required on a new laptop.
Jumping (shorting) the CMOS with a wire, as sometimes suggested in forums, may void the warranty.
Acer Support has the proper tools to reprogram the EEPROM and safely reset the BIOS.

The issue is that the only supported way to do that reset is through Acer's support. They will have to take or send the laptop to a service center, where they have the tools needed.
