I've had this model for a few months now, and to be honest I'm really disappointed with it. It replaced a V3-574T which served me well for many years, with a few keyboard, LCD and SSD replacements & upgrades.

The A16-51GM often has the fans running at full speed, despite no blocked airflow and CPU nowhere near 100% (sat at the desktop with no apps running).

The worst thing is the standby! On my old Acer, closing the lid would knock it straight into standby and the device would be stone cold on resume. This one goes into standby, fans turn off, but the processor must still be running at a high rate as the heat coming from underneath (with no fans cooling it) can heat the house!!

I've checked in the BIOS and have the latest installed.

The Aspire A16-51GM seems to be a region-specific model, mainly marketed in India and Southeast Asia. It’s not listed on Acer’s global product pages, but support info is available on the Acer India support site.

The fan and standby heat behavior you described is consistent with systems using RTX 2050 and Modern Standby (S0ix). You can confirm this by running the command powercfg /a with the Command Prompt.

If S3 isn’t listed, the system is using Modern Standby, which keeps certain components semi-active even when the lid is closed. Disabling Fast Startup or adjusting BIOS power settings may help reduce heat buildup. Also worth checking for the latest Intel ME and chipset drivers.
