Acer Spin 7 Laptop 2017, Ne w battery won't hold charge

I have an Acer Spin 7 laptop from 2017. It was working totally fine this whole time until 2024 when the battery started to die quickly. I bought a new replacement battery online somewhere and got my brother to install it. It was fine for about a year, until this spring 2025, when suddenly the screen would go black instantly when I unplugged it, despite leaving it plugged in for hours to charge. It apparently was/is not charging at all. I've used chat GPT and tried the suggestions of trying to reinstall the battery driver, and manually calibrate the battery, and neither worked. Before I tried the suggestions it at least said "charging" even though it did not seem to be charging - now, after trying the suggestions, it says "no battery detected".

Any ideas what it could be?

Most symptoms of a battery not charging is from either a blown EC chip that doesn't communicate with the battery board or a blown BQ chip or the laptops main power rail chips like a mosfet or a capacitor are shorted. All these aspects of your Acer Spin 7 Laptop 2017 which is an 8 year old laptop could have a shorted component that you need to take your laptop to an experienced tech that can pinpoint the exact problem and fix your laptop..

First try and do a hard reset and see if the EC chip and bios chip are not frozen and will reset, for a hard reset you need to take the main battery out then disconnect the bios battery plug and short its +&- pins at the mobo plug to reset CMOS, then take the ram out and leave the laptop to reset for at least 30min, then reconnect everything and if you have 2x ram modules only connect one and alternate the two modules, and see if its not a faulty ram that is causing this boot problem.

If this doesn't work then you need to do the above ands take your laptop to an experience d tech that can fix your laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
