Good morning, I updated my ASPIRE TC 885 PC from Windows 10 to 11. There is a problem with core isolation device security where it indicates some obsolete drivers that block this function. The drivers are the following:

ew_usbenumfilter.sys

ew_hwusbdev.sys

ew_usbccgpfilter.sys

hw_cdcacm.sys

hw_quusbmdm.sys

hw_usbdev.sys

hw_cdcacm.sys

hw_quusbmdm.sys

ew_usbccgpfilter.sys

wdcsam64_prewin8.sys

A question: Are these drivers part of the PC components already installed at the factory? If I want to delete them, how can I do it? Thanks.

    Hi adam25,

Thanks for posting. The Aspire TC-885 originally shipped with Windows 10 and may not meet all Windows 11 security requirements—especially if TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot weren’t enabled before the upgrade.

The drivers you listed (like ew_usbenumfilter.sys, hw_cdcacm.sys, wdcsam64_prewin8.sys) are legacy USB modem and storage filters. These are not part of Acer’s factory image—they likely came from third-party accessories like Huawei USB dongles or WD external drives. They block Core Isolation because they’re unsigned or incompatible with Windows 11’s security stack.

Here’s how to check and clean up:

    1. Press Windows + R, type tpm.msc, and confirm if TPM 2.0 is present.
    2. Enter BIOS (press F2 at boot) and check if Secure Boot is enabled.
    3. Open Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices. Uninstall any Huawei or WD virtual devices.
    4. Reinstall Windows 11 cleanly to remove leftover drivers: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows

📌 If TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot are missing, Core Isolation won’t activate. In that case, staying on Windows 10 may be safer until hardware is upgraded.
