    Hi @xRico27x ,

To tether your smartphone via USB so the PC sees it:

    1. On the phone – enable the connection mode you want to use:
      • For file transfers, set USB connection to File Transfer (MTP).
      • For USB tethering, turn on Tethering & Portable Hotspot → USB tethering.
    2. When you plug in via USB, watch the phone screen for a prompt saying “Trust this device?” or “Allow access to data?” and tap Yes/Allow.
    3. On Windows – after you confirm on the phone, it should appear in File Explorer (for transfers) or create a new network connection (for tethering).

    If nothing happens:

    • Try a different USB cable rated for data, not just charging.
    • Test each USB port.
    • Reboot both phone and PC, then reconnect.

Most smartphones and like my Samsung S24 phone has a special USB driver to make the phone connection work, so make sure that you have this installed as its essential that you do that so that your phone connects. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

This is my Control Panel Samsung driver for my S24 galaxy smartphone.

    Hi @xRico27x ,

No separate USB driver is required for smartphones in Windows.

    1. On the phone, activate the function you need: File Transfer/MTP for data, or USB tethering for internet sharing.
    2. Connect the phone to the laptop’s USB port.
    3. When the “Trust this device?” (or similar) prompt appears on the phone, tap Yes.
