I just bought my Acer Nitro V15 (the store didn't install any drivers or updates). The bluetooth headphones was working fine but started lagging after a while. The audio is smooth with wired earphones.

Hi @jujudhauu927 — since wired audio is smooth and the lag appears only over Bluetooth, this isn’t a “no drivers installed” scenario. Windows provides baseline drivers and pulls additional ones from Windows Update once you’re online, so the store not running updates wouldn’t block core Bluetooth functionality. Your description (BT lag after a while; wired OK) points to a software stack glitch rather than missing drivers.

    In‑place recovery via Windows Update

Use Windows’ built‑in repair reinstall. It refreshes system files and components while keeping your apps, files, and settings intact.

    1. Open: Settings > System > Recovery.
    2. Select: Fix problems using Windows Update > Reinstall now.
    3. Confirm: Allow automatic restart if prompted.
    4. Wait: Let it download and reinstall the current Windows version.
    5. Restart: If it doesn’t auto‑reboot, restart manually, then test Bluetooth.

This is Microsoft’s supported path and is designed to repair Windows without wiping your data; keep the PC plugged in and online during the process.

Bluetooth‑specific checks to stop the lag

    • Re‑pair the headset: Remove the device (Settings > Bluetooth & devices), toggle Bluetooth off/on, then pair again.
    • Use the stereo profile: In Sound settings, select the output labeled “Headphones [Stereo]” (not “Headset [Hands‑Free]”).
    • Disable hands‑free telephony: Device Manager > Bluetooth > your headset > Properties > Services, uncheck “Hands‑Free Telephony,” OK, reconnect.
    • Refresh drivers via Windows Update: Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates, install any Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi/Audio items.
    • Power management: Device Manager > Bluetooth > your adapter > Power Management, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”
    • Reduce 2.4 GHz interference: Prefer 5 GHz Wi‑Fi on your router and keep USB 2.0 dongles/cables away from the laptop’s right side ports.

    If issues persist

    • Report back with: Bluetooth adapter model (Intel/MediaTek), driver version, and the headset model.
    • Next steps: Clean boot to rule out third‑party audio utilities, then test with a second headset to isolate device vs. system.

Staying on the in‑place repair path first will save you time; most BT lag-after-awhile cases clear once the Windows audio and Bluetooth stacks are repaired
