I will NEVER buy another Acer laptop again!! I can't get any help with the charging cord or how to return it and get my money back. Was told the charger cord was not the one that should have been with it, it's an off brand and gets hot when I charge it, the battery only takes about an hour to charge and that's just not the way it should be!!! Ordered it from Best Buy and can't help from them either!!!!

    Hi DWescoat

Just to clarify: OEM chargers are third-party units sourced by Acer or its partners — they meet the required specs and may carry Acer branding. That’s different from generic or clone chargers sold for under $20, which often lack proper thermal regulation and safety certifications. If your charger gets excessively hot or feels off-brand, it might be one of those clones, not an OEM unit.

Fast charging from 5% to full in about 40 minutes is actually normal for many Acer laptops, especially with USB-C Power Delivery adapters. During this phase, all adapters and USB-C chargers will get warm — that’s expected due to the high power draw when the battery is nearly empty. Heat buildup should be noticeable but not excessive. If it feels unsafe or unusually hot, it’s worth checking the voltage and amperage ratings to ensure compatibility.
