I’ve tried everything I can to fix the issue with my Acer Nitro V 15 (ANV15-51-519K) laptop’s GPU fan being stuck at full speed and on the new BIOS version 1.31
Troubleshooting Steps I Have Already Performed:
- Reinstalled Software & Drivers:
- Reinstalled NitroSense fan control software.
- Reinstalled and updated GPU drivers (NVIDIA).
- EC Reset Attempts:
- Performed soft EC reset (power button hold while unplugged).
- Performed hard EC reset (battery disconnected and power drained).
- BIOS/EC Firmware Update:
- Updated BIOS to version 1.31, which includes an EC firmware update.
- Issue persisted after update.
- Advanced BIOS Access:
- Unlocked and accessed the hidden advanced BIOS menu.
- Reviewed available settings related to thermal/fan/EC configuration.
- No working options found to adjust or override GPU fan control.
- Command Line and Power Settings:
- Used Command Prompt commands to reset/reconfigure power behavior.
- Adjusted all related Windows power options and advanced settings.
- No effect on GPU fan operation.
- Third-Party Fan Control:
- Attempted to use Argus Monitor and HWiNFO to manually override fan behavior.
- GPU fan not detected or controllable by these tools.
- Operating System Isolation:
- Created two drive partitions and installed Linux on one.
- GPU fan remains at full speed even on Linux, confirming it’s not OS-related.
- Confirmed Behavior:
- GPU temperatures are normal (~40–50 °C).
- CPU fan behaves normally and ramps as expected.
- Issue occurs even in BIOS, before any OS loads.
At this point I am at a complete loss and I don't know how this will be fixed, I'm waiting for another BIOS update hopefully that fixes it.
