Hello everyone, I wanted to know what to do in this situation. I have a 120 hertz monitor, but now the maximum I can set on it is 100. How can I return everything back? If anything, the monitor model is EK251Q

Hey @fluffyfur , The EK251Q G does support up to 120Hz—but getting there isn’t just about the monitor specs. Here's what really controls your refresh rate:

    🧩 HDMI Cable Type Matters

    • If you're using an older HDMI 1.4 cable, it may cap out around 100Hz at 1080p.
    • Upgrade to a certified HDMI 2.0 or higher cable—this opens up the full 120Hz bandwidth.

    🎮 GPU Port Compatibility

    • Make sure you're connected directly to a discrete GPU port (not onboard graphics).
    • Some laptops/desktops share ports or throttle bandwidth based on active display lanes.

    🛠️ Windows Display Settings

    • Go to Settings → System → Display → Advanced display settings and check the refresh rate.
    • Windows sometimes defaults to a lower rate after updates—even if the hardware supports more.

    🧠 Driver Accuracy

    • If the monitor’s EDID isn’t read correctly (due to outdated or mismatched drivers), Windows might misreport the available modes. Reinstalling or updating your GPU driver can help fix this.

TL;DR: Don't blame the monitor just yet. Check your HDMI cable rating, GPU port specs, and tweak your display settings. Once all three are aligned, your EK251Q G should give you the full 120Hz it’s built for.

Hope that helps! Let us know if it works—or what you’ve already tried. 😄
