Acer Spin 513-54N-74V2 not working after battery replacement, blinking orange light

So today I got my replacement battery and it wasnt a ACER oem battery. I didnt realize this untill the issues happened when I put in the new battery.

I have the orange light blinking and it wont stay soild. It wont turn on with battery power. I decided to put the OEM battery back in that is a ACER. It started to do the same thing, at the moment my laptop is running on slow mode. Battery shows 100% but did show a battery with an X on start up.

Device manager doesnt show a battery name?

I have unplugged battery and plugged battery back in, shut off and held power button down 45 seconds and also put in a pin for battery reset. Nothing has worked.

I am on plugged in power and the orange light is still blinking

I re-installed the Acer OEM battery and its doing the same thing, this morning the laptop was fine and just because of a battery change its now a complete mess. I am unable to go back to Windows 23 H2. The BIOS on this unit is useless as it just has basic info and changes

Are you able to tell me a compitable motherboard I can install in my lap that would be newer? These issues seem to be stemming fom Windows 11 fingerprint, pen and now the batter?

Or can you recommend a Spin 5 that is newer??? I would like to keep this style of laptop

Yes I was doing research online and also found the Acer Spin 5 SP514-51N as the next upgrade, the only problem I see its from 2022? And I would I be 3 years into this model, which I am now 5 years into my SP513-54n-74v2. I got way too comfortable with electornics when I am settled in as most do.

I do see most of my issues started happening when I updated to windows 11 pro, even though I had 11 home, I am disappointed that Acer didnt further support this Spin SP513 5 but I get it, its 5 years old and I need to update. I have decided to revert my SP513 back to Windows 10 home and will be selling it to offset the costs of getting a Acer Spin 5 SP514-51N model. I see differences in the model? 70LZ, 73Y7, ETC? My 74v2 was fine for the I-7 it had I dont do gaming and only spreadsheets, pdfs, emails, etc Basic stuff. I would have liked to use the pen for signatures on PDF docs but that never worked.

Ok in the meantime can you help me to speed up my computer? It is lagging horribly even when plugged in. I have changed the battery to high performance when plugged and there is no difference in speed.

Below is on start up, where the battery has an X. But shows the battery at 100% when fully booted.

For others here is the non Acer battery that Amazon seller sold me as ACER OEM with different voltage rating

I hope this didnt damage my laptop? I cant revert back to Windows 11 yet until I get my new laptop but I hope that will fix the problems

If you want a Spin model that is newer, look into the Travelmate Spin models. Many of those come with Windows Pro installed as well, so could save you a step in the process if getting to your current configuration.

Man this Spin 5 is trying my patience lol. I reinstalled Windows 11 and kept my files the install took from 8pm untill 1pm the next day, I dont even want say that this was a joke, but it took that long.

Last nifgt I decided I have had enough of this Spin 5 and decided to wipe it clean and do a install of Windows 10. 8pm until 2am. I turned it off and went back to sleep. The spin is better on Windows 10, but still lags and now shows that there is no battery detected. I cant change the battery settings to higher performance,e ven though power is by plug in?

Is there an acer downloader that gets all the apps needed for my Spin 5 or do I have just download each one?

This experience with the Spin 5 has a left a bad taste in my mouth with Acer. Yes my Spin 5 is 5yrs old and yet it still performed for my needs as if it was a newer model. I am more annoyed that I was under the impression I could update the OS and my Spin 5 would be good, my case there has been nothing but issues with it on Windows 11. If I were to have kept the Spin 5 on Windows 10, after Oct 2025 the Spin 5 would be a paperweight and I would have been forced to sell. This is prob the 1st time I have experienced so many issues from a OS affecting a laptop and no more upcoming support for that OS. I dont blame the OS I blame the hardware that I have to not able to adapt to the newer OS.

I am done with the Spin 5 and will move on to the travelmate Spin models that have 2 thunder bolt ports, HDMI, 2 Usb ports like my current Spin, but with new processors and the ability to update ram.

Ok since I got my Travelmate Spin…I created a Window 10 USB media to fully do a clean install instead of the just deleting files, etc. Is the best way to start all over for the Spin 5 to fully restore it to brand new and see if I can fix the battery, fingerprint and pen issues?

So I ended up doing a clean install of Windows 10 pro, which fixed the stylus pen and I was able to install the elan finger print software and in device manager it shows biometrics. Microsoft upgraded my system to Windows 11 pro, since 10 will stop being supported soon.

Stylus pen still works and Biometrics is still showing up, but I still cant seem to set up fingerprint scanner, as still says cant find a fingerprint scanner? I am selling the unit, so I am just trying to get it back to OEM as much I can and the fingerprint option is the last thing needed
