I bought my son an ACER Aspire Lite 15 AL15 with 8gb ram 500gb storage ryzen 7 and he formatted it with Win 11 Pro and installed MS Office Home Student without my knowledge. I just bought it the other day! This is a new one and my idiotic son had his way. Now the display isn't what when it came. Display is bigger and it seems the display driver isn't right or something...Now, I want to ask of I can go to the store where I bought it to revert it to the stock setup or go to an Acer store for it to be reverted to the stock setup.

I also want to ask if the action that my son did voided the warranty?

Did his formatting erased the Acer Recovery? I remember my old office Acer laptop had an F10 recovery and that saved me twice. The tech guys told me about that F10.

The whole story was that he wanted to have MS Office Home Student to be installed because when we bought the laptop it wasn't bundled with it.

I was still asking some pals at the office about their purchase of MS Office, if 365 is better or we can get a license of just Home Student but my son had his way without telling me. Kids these days are so...tsk.

Can someone help me out here PLEASE.....

Explain to me based on the actions that happened in relation to recovery of the stock setup and warranty issues please. Getting the headache that should have been solved by getting the kid a new laptop but he actually borked it. And it's just the 2nd day!

Was the warranty voided? Can I still recover the stock setup? How about the Acer Recovery?

Will I end up reformatting again and supplying all the relevant drivers and Acer programs that are included when you buy a new laptop?

Are these programs available for download at the support site?

Sorry for the questions but here is a dad confused and frustrated. Please bear with me.

Please help.

Jason, your son's formatting of the new Acer Aspire Lite 15 likely did not void the hardware warranty, but it did erase the Acer Recovery partition, making the F10 recovery impossible. The "bigger display" issue is simply a missing or incorrect display driver. You can either take it to an Acer service center to restore the factory setup (likely for a fee) or reformat it yourself and download all necessary drivers and programs from Acer's support website, which are typically available.
