I just bought an Aspire 5 A514-55-58E0 and I would like to add a sata drive, I did a search for the cable and bracket but I find results for other models (like A514-53, 54) but I don't understand if it is compatible anyway.
I am also looking for it in Europe (Italy), since I see many results shipping from Canada/USA.

(for example this one, can it work?)

Thanks for the help!

    Hi,
✅ The correct flat ribbon SATA cable part number is 50.K5JN2.004 (also listed as NBX00030V00), confirmed compatible with Aspire A514-55 and A514-55G models.

    • 🧩 To mount a 2.5" SATA SSD or HDD, you’ll also need the drive bracket/caddy, part number 33.GCEN7.001 (sometimes listed as 33.HGLN7.001 depending on vendor).
    • 🔩 Typical screw sizes:
      • M2.0×4.5 mm – to secure the bracket to the chassis
      • M3.0×3.0 mm – to attach the drive to the bracket

📦 Vendor Option A reliable source for the cable is ITPartStore Canada: https://itpartstore.com/products/acer-hdd-ssd-sata-io-cable-aspire-a514-55-a514-55g-s40-54-50-k5jn2-004 They may offer international shipping to Italy upon request.

🔍 eBay Italy Try searching: Acer A514-55 SATA cable 50.K5JN2.004 site:ebay.it …and set a saved search alert in case one becomes available locally.

🇮🇹 Local Resellers You can also check with: NextHS.it ComputerDiscount.it These vendors occasionally stock genuine Acer parts or can special order them.

I also found the correct SATA cable listed at Zandparts, a Sweden-based official parts distributor that ships to Italy:

Part Number: 50.K5JN2.004 Description: Acer CABLE FOR HDD FFC Price: €11.71 (incl. VAT) Link: 50.K5JN2.004 Acer CABLE FOR HDD FFC

This is the genuine Acer flat ribbon cable for the A514-55 series. It may be the most straightforward EU-based option if local resellers don’t have stock. They also have the HDD caddy.

The Aspire A515-55 only uses M.2 SSD drives and it does not have internal provisions for a 2.5" SATA drive as it does not have the space for a 2.5" HDD. You can use an external 2.5" drive by attaching these sorts of external drive to the A515-55 USB-C or USB 3.0 ports. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Aspire A515-55 laptop opened up and as you can see it does not have a space for s 2.5" HDD

I've checked right now, there is space for 2.5" and the connector JHDD1 as showed in photo.

Thank you, I will follow your advice. But do you think if I contact Acer directly they can send me the components?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

If you're in Italy and already confirmed that your A514-55 has the 2.5" bay and SATA header (JHDD1), contacting Acer for spare parts may not be the quickest route. In past cases, some users were referred back and forth between support and third-party service centers without success—so it can be a frustrating loop.

Fortunately, there's a much more direct solution:

✅ Both the SATA cable (Part No. 50.K5JN2.004) and the HDD bracket (Part No. 33.K5JN2.001) are available from Zandparts, a Sweden-based official parts distributor. They ship across the EU, including Italy, and stock original Acer components.

Zandparts website (search by part number): zandparts.com or directly: https://www.zandparts.com/en/product/acer-50-k5jn2-004

This route has worked well for others trying to upgrade the same model—no need to chase parts through Acer’s official channels when an EU vendor already has them in stock.

Let me know if you want a quick installation guide or reference pics. It’s a straightforward upgrade once you’ve got the parts.

Sorry, I got the wrong Aspire and I gave you info on the A515-55, the Aspire 514-55 has a 2.5" SATA space and Acer lists the SATA III cable, so buy this cabled and fit a 2.5" SATA III mechanical or SSD drive to your laptop, sorry about that again.

This is all that Acer listed SATA III cable Acer does not list the appropriate screws that you need, so I can't give you those to secure the 2.5" drive.

Glad to help you out, but make sure that you buy the exact SATA III cable (as in the caption above) as these laptops mobo SATA clip type plugs are very fiddly and need their appropriate thickness flat cables otherwise they don't fit into the plug and you will not be able to connect the HDD to the plug. Good luck.
