Hi Everyone

Wonder if i could ask for some advise please

purchased a Lovely second hand Acer 7750G On Windows 10 Home 64.bit

which had a i7 cpu in it

1 TB SSD Hardrive

8 gig 2Rx8 PC3L-12800s-11 DDR3L 1600 CL11

it works really well but Only occasionally Freezes after about 2 - 2.5 hours of continuous running VDJ

I Looked up specs and acer testing on this laptop which wad tested on Windows 7

But This Laptop Has Windows 10 Home 64-bit

The fan has been cleaned and fresh cpu pasted applied all available updates and everything in device manager is okay nothing showing any problems it even passed the SFC.EXE/Scan now

Question is

Do you think maybe it should put back onto windows 7 or leave on Window 10

Could window 10 be causing the occasional freeze or any suggestions would be appreciated

Many Thanks Maggie

NO, use Win-10 minimum (as Win-10 support end September 2025) so I would install the unsupported Win-11 below. As this excellent 17.3" Aspire 7750G laptop even that its so old (btw, I own the 15.3" 5750-2414 version of this laptop since new) and I'm running Win-10 Pro with an i5-2540M cpu and 8GB ram 2x 4GB DDR3-1866MT/s type ram and a 1TB Samsung EVO 850 SSD drive and this laptop runs perfectly with Win10 Pro and has done so since Win-10 was first released in mid 2015.

What I suggest (if you want to keep and make this laptop quicker for very little investment) so that your 7750G laptop is quicker, as this laptop has a dedicated AMD Mobility Radeon™ graphics and has the upper spec either i7-2630QM or i7-2720QM or the top spec i7-2820QM cpu (if it doesn't then upgrade to the top i7-2820QM cpu) and also upgrade to a 2.5" SSD boot drive like the Samsung 870 EVO and the ram to 16GB at 2x 4GB DDR3-1600MT/s as doing all this will speed up this 17.3" 7750G laptop considerably and it will run Win-10 or Pro and even the Windows 11 Installation on Unsupported Hardware perfectly and you could use this laptop for very little investment to the latest Win-11 OS. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
