Switch 10v won't power on, "Critical Battery" message then went blank again.

I was given a switch 10v without the keyboard last year and, whilst it booted and worked fine to start with, after leaving it a few months when I tried to switch it on it just came up with a "Critical Battery" message then went blank again.

I assumed the battery needed charging so plugged it in, the power light went orange but after 2 days it is still orange and wont turn on. I have tried the various button combinations (power/vol-up/vol-down) but nothing changes.

I wondered if the battery was completely dead but when I opened the case and tested I am getting 3.7v from the battery connector so I assume it is ok. I also checked the power connector and the 12v supply is getting to the PCB power connector.

Any further thoughts on what to try next?

I don't know which exact Switch 10v model laptop model you have, but if its the Acer Aspire Switch 10V SW5-014-1742 model, this laptop was released in late 2015 and its going on 10 years old, which means that if its battery hasn't been changed it needs a new battery asap as these batteries in laptops last max 4 -5 years before they need changing, otherwise you get error messages like you are getting.

The "critical battery error" means that the battery is either at a locked up very low charge or its faulty and has lost charge and its not functioning, and the battery has gone into a low charge state and locked up. I suggest that you buy a new battery and also a new adapter listed below for best results. Also, I listed a new uppercase and keyboard for the US International type for your reference for the above model laptop to assist you further. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

This is the US - International model Uppercase and Keyboard for this laptop, see if you can get just the keyboard if you have the upper case, as the keyboard could be changed separately if its not riveted to the upper case.
