Im using the Predator PHN16-72 model , bought it 2 months ago . Since yesterday whenever I switch to the discrete GPU through the NVIDIA control panel , my taskbar brightness slider gets greyed out and the only way to adjust brightness is through the function keys on my keyboard . The slider works fine when Im using the integrated gpu but gets locked whenever im on dGPU . Ive been experiencing this issue since yesterday and would like help to resolve this issue .

Probably a bug. You should use Predator sense to apply the nvidia gpu only as it has to force a restart as it changes the option in the BIOS

A greyed-out brightness slider in Windows, including on a PHN16-72 laptop, is often a sign of a display driver issue or a problem with the built-in screen. It could also be due to Function Lock or a device setting.
    Here's how to troubleshoot:-

    1. Check Device Manager:
    Open Device Manager.
    Expand "Display adapters."
Ensure your display adapter is enabled. If it's disabled, right-click and choose "Enable."
    2. Update Display Drivers:
Go to your computer's manufacturer's website and download the latest display driver for your device.
    Install the downloaded driver.
    Restart your PC after installation.
    3. Check Function Lock (Fn+Esc):
On many laptops, Function Lock (Fn+Esc) can prevent the brightness slider from working.
Try pressing Fn+Esc to disable Function Lock.
    4. Verify Monitor Settings (External Monitor):
If you're using an external monitor, ensure the monitor settings are not set to use "PNP Monitor" and try changing to "Generic PNP."
    5. System File Checker (SFC):
Run System File Checker (SFC) to scan for and repair corrupted system files.
    Open Command Prompt as administrator.
Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    6. Intel Chipset Drivers:
Try installing or updating your Intel chipset drivers if you have an Intel graphics card.

Yeah, I get this too, but only the few times I've tried using the onboard graphics. Switching back to the graphic card and the problem disappeares for me.

@Axxo Thanks, I've tried all but suggestion point 5. Updating drivers etc didn't do the trick for me. Never thought of SFC so I'll give it a go!
