I have misplaced the hard drive upgrade materials that came with my Acer Aspire 5 laptop.

Hello,

As the title says, I want to install a hard drive into my laptop for more storage space, but I have lost the little upgrade material package (other than the hard drive itself) that came with my laptop. Is there anywhere that I can order this package, or, if they're like general components, can someone point me in the right direction to buy them? As far as I can tell, I need to buy:

  • 2.5" hard drive
  • Cable connector
  • 4 screws (I don't know exactly what type of screw it is yet)

Am I missing anything? Help appreciated.

Ok, I looked at a tutorial video.

Apparently, the laptop will have a caddy pre-installed which I can unscrew and use. However, since I have lost the 4 screws which hold the hard drive to the caddy, and the guy said "if for some reason, you lose the caddy, you can easily hold the hard drive in place with double-sided tape", it seems the simplest solution is to just do away with the caddy/tray and use double-sided type to hold the hard drive in place. At this point, it seems all that I need is the hard drive itself, the cable connector, and double-sided tape.

I have answered my own question. No need for more answers, but if anyone else has useful information to impart, please do share.
