My Chromebook Plus 514 when using the Google browser to connect to Youtube TV started showing a black screen with the sound playing.

A have a cell phone, 2 tablets, a Windows laptop, an older Acer Chromebook all working without this issue. It does run in Incognito mode.

Anyone else having this problem. May have started after last Chrome update but not totally sure. Have tried all the usual steps including.

Shutting down and restarting, logging off and on.

Shutting down my internet modem and restarting.

Checking all settings, clearing all the history, and associated cookies, cache, web sites etc.

Everything except reverting to total wipe and restart.

A black screen on a Chromebook Plus 514 while streaming YouTube TV could be due to various reasons, including a battery issue, overheating, or a software glitch. First, ensure the Chromebook is charged and the screen brightness is adjusted. If the problem persists, try a hard reset, update Chrome OS, or perform a powerwash to reset the device to factory settings.
    Here's a more detailed approach:-

    1. Basic Troubleshooting:
Charge the Chromebook: Ensure the battery is sufficiently charged and the Chromebook is plugged in if necessary.
Adjust Brightness: Use the keyboard shortcut keys to increase the screen brightness.
Prevent Overheating: If the Chromebook feels hot, let it cool down or use a laptop cooler.
Restart: Restart the Chromebook by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
    2. Software Issues:
Update Chrome OS: Check for updates in Chrome OS settings and install any available updates.
Reset Chrome Flags: Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://flags to reset all flags.
Powerwash: Perform a powerwash to reset the device to factory settings. This will erase locally stored data, so back up any important files first.
    3. Hardware Issues:
Hard Reset: If the Chromebook is completely unresponsive, try a hard reset. Refer to Google's instructions on resetting Chromebooks hardware for specific instructions.
Consult Repair Shops if the issue persists after these steps.
    4. Potential Causes:
Incompatible Extensions: If the issue occurred after installing a new extension, try disabling or uninstalling it.
External Monitors/Accessories: If using external monitors, disconnect them and try again.
Overheating: Excessive heat can cause display issues.
Hardware Malfunction: If the problem persists, it could be a hardware issue that requires professional repair.
