I have a nitro 5 (an515-58-53rf) and I am looking at using the CAD program Solid Works either desktop or online. I am not sure what I am looking at though. Would my laptop meet the minimum requirement?

The Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58-53RF with at least 16GB RAM should be able to run SolidWorks, but there are a few things to consider:
Processor & GPU: SolidWorks performs best with workstation-grade GPUs (like NVIDIA Quadro or AMD Radeon Pro). The Nitro 5 typically comes with gaming GPUs (like RTX 3050/3060/3070), which can run SolidWorks but may not be officially certified.
RAM: 16GB is sufficient for most SolidWorks tasks, but larger assemblies or complex simulations may benefit from 32GB or more.
Online Version: If you're considering SolidWorks Online, it relies on cloud processing, meaning your laptop's hardware matters less—just ensure you have a stable internet connection.
Compatibility: Some users have reported driver issues with gaming laptops when running SolidWorks. Checking for updated GPU drivers and enabling RealView Graphics (if supported) can help.
If you're using SolidWorks for basic modeling, the Nitro 5 should work fine. But for heavy simulations or professional work, a workstation laptop might be a better fit

For the CAD Solid Works software to work at its best, I suggest that you upgrade your Nitro AN515-58/RTX3050 or better gpu to at least 32GB of DDR4-3200MT/s CL22 type ram if that is your AN515-58 Nitro laptop model, preferably 64GB at 2x 32GB DDR4-3200MT/s CL22.

For the AN515-58 and the RTX4060 graphics and with the DDR5 type ram, the best is to update to a capacity of 64GB 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 as the 12th Gen i9-12900H or i7-12700H or i5-12500H cpu's can work with a max 64GB ram capacity of up to 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram in the laptops 2x slots. As in the CAD Solid Works software, the more ram you have the better the CAD software will respond and work, especially in 3D imagining that needs allot of memory and graphics power that the AN515-58 has. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
