Acer Nitro V15 screen not working, only backlight

Hey guys,

A couple nights ago all of a sudden my screen stopped working.

If I point a flashlight at it, I can see the backlight working but so far none of the fixes I've tried have worked.

I have reinstalled Windows, did the Intel checks, the PC doesn't let me do the BIOS check due to a flashing error, I've also used a pin to use the reset button in the back of the PC and nothing.

I'm looking for any other suggestions since I've noticed this is a pretty common issue with these PCs

Thanks!

If the Acer Nitro V15 screen is displaying a black screen but the backlight is on, it could be due to a variety of reasons, including graphics card issues, BIOS problems, or a faulty screen cable.
Here's a breakdown of potential causes and troubleshooting steps:

    1. External Monitor Test:
      What it does:
Connect the laptop to an external monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort to see if the display is working on that screen.
      Why it's important:
If the display works on an external monitor, it points to a problem with the laptop's screen itself, rather than the graphics card or BIOS.
    2. Graphics Driver Issues:
What it does: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause display problems.
      How to fix:
Open Device Manager (search for "Device Manager" in Windows search).
Locate your graphics card (e.g., NVIDIA GeForce, AMD Radeon).
      Update or reinstall the driver.
    3. BIOS Issues:
      What it does:
Incorrect BIOS settings can sometimes interfere with display functionality.
      How to fix:
Restart the laptop and press the F2 key (or the key that opens the BIOS) repeatedly during startup.
Navigate to the display settings in the BIOS.
Reset the BIOS to default settings (usually by pressing F9 and then F10).
    4. Screen Cable Problems:
      What it does:
The cable connecting the screen to the motherboard may be loose or damaged.
      How to fix:
If you're comfortable with laptop disassembly, carefully open the laptop and check the screen cable connection to the motherboard and the LCD panel.
Ensure the cable is properly connected.
    5. Other Potential Issues:
      Overheating:
The graphics card or other components may be overheating and causing the display to go black.
      SMOS Battery:
In rare cases, a faulty SMOS (System Management Overload) battery can cause display issues.

Try connecting your PC to an external monitor to check whether the issue is with the display or graphics output. Adjust brightness settings using keyboard shortcuts or Windows settings, as the screen may be dimmed. Performing a hard reset by disconnecting the power, removing the battery (if possible), holding the power button for 30 seconds, and then reconnecting can resolve power-related issues. If the system works with an external display, updating graphics drivers through Device Manager might help.
