My laptop's screen froze and I had to force it to shut down. After that, the blue screen appeared to repair Windows but I couldn't solve it. Now it's showing that the device is not bootable. When I opened the BIOS settings, I noticed that my SSD is no longer showing up in the storage. Can someone help me?

if your laptop is still under warranty, i would recommend sending it to acer for repair, if not then you can try and open the unit yourself (at your own risk) . google is your friend here and try reseating the m.2 drive but it sounds to me like you may have a dead hard drive which is the probable cause of the system freeze in the first place.

good luck let me know how it goes.

A Predator Helios Neo 16 laptop SSD not being detected after a forced shutdown and blue screen can be a frustrating issue. Here's a breakdown of potential causes and solutions:
    Possible Causes:
    Hardware Issues:
A damaged or failing SSD is a primary suspect. Forced shutdowns can sometimes introduce corruption or damage to the SSD, especially if it's already at the end of its lifespan.
    BIOS Issues:
The laptop's BIOS might not be correctly recognizing the SSD, potentially due to a corrupted or outdated BIOS version.
    Software Issues:
Operating system corruption, driver issues, or even a faulty Windows update could prevent the SSD from being recognized.
    Thermal Issues:
If the laptop is overheating, it can cause the SSD to fail to initialize or be recognized.
    VMD Controller:
In some cases, the VMD (Virtual Memory Disk) controller might be interfering with SSD detection.
    Troubleshooting Steps:

    1. Restart and Observe:
Try a clean restart of the laptop. See if the SSD is recognized during boot-up.
    2. Check BIOS:
Enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F2, Delete, or Esc repeatedly during startup) and verify if the SSD is listed as a bootable device.
    3. Check Storage Settings:
In Windows, verify the SSD is listed in Device Manager (accessible by searching for "Device Manager" in the Start Menu).
    4. Run Disk Checks:
Use the chkdsk command (open Command Prompt as administrator and type chkdsk /f /r) to check for errors on the existing drive.
    5. Update BIOS and Drivers:
Ensure the laptop's BIOS and drivers are up-to-date. Check the Acer support website for the latest firmware and drivers.
    6. Try Safe Mode:
Boot into Safe Mode (search for "Safe Mode" in the Start Menu) to see if the issue persists. This helps isolate whether software is causing the problem.
    7. VMD Controller:
If the laptop uses a VMD controller, consider disabling it in the BIOS, but only if you have a second drive to boot from.
    8. Windows Recovery:
If the SSD is not detected, try using the Windows Recovery tools (accessible through the Windows Recovery Menu) to repair the operating system.
    9. SSD Diagnostic Tools:
Use diagnostic tools (like those provided by the SSD manufacturer or CrystalDiskInfo) to test the health of the SSD.
    10. Contact Acer Support:
If the problem persists, contact Acer support for further assistance.

i doubt steps 3, 4, 6 , 8, and 9 are going to help somehow as the disk is not recognised in the bios let alone windows.

I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows but my SSD isn't showing up as an installation option. When I open Diskpart my SSD appears as disk 0 in the list. How can I install Windows on my SSD? I've already disabled VMD in the BIOS.

If you want to fix this M.2 boot drive "Not Detected" problem with your PHN16-71 model laptop and you want to do a clean install, then follow the guide below, as I've got the exact same Predator Neo PHN16-71 laptop and the process for a clean install is what you do if you want to do a successful install of windows OS and for this install to work 100% without having any BSODs and freezing of the OS afterwards, so follow all the steps below:

    1. First delete all the partitions like the 7.5GB and the 512.0KB on Disk 0 in the section at "Select location to install Windows 11".
    2. Then make sure that your Win-11 24H2 installation USB has the PHN16-71 IRST version 19.5.1.1040 driver folder in the installation USB, so that you have access to this driver. later.
    3. Then in "Select location to install Windows 11 > Load driver >
    4. You install the IRST version 19.5.1.1049 driver, as afterwards the M.2 SSD boot drive will be recognized and you will be able to continue the Win-11 24H2 installation.
    5. Then you finish the Win-11 24H2 version install, afterwards, make sure that you update all the updates for windows to get OS build: 26100.4061 which is the last OS.
    6. Then update the bios to version 1.18 as that has the fix for the cpu microcode of the 13th Gen i7-13700HX cpu in your laptop so it doesn't overheat and overvolt, which was a problem with these cpu's design and why they excessively overheated.
    7. Also, install the NVidia App so that this app notifies you of all the new NVidia Gaming graphics drivers for your RTX40xx card.
    8. Optional - I also installed the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant to keep the PHN16-71 WLAN and Bluetooth and Killer Performance suite drivers up to date.

Its a very simple process and it works 100%, good luck and hope this helps you out, as that is what I did to my PHN16-71 Acer oem OS and my laptop works 100% and never ever had a BSOD or any screen freeze.

Friends, I'm getting desperate. I was convinced that my SSD was defective and I bought a new one that is compatible with my laptop. The new SSD is also not showing up in the BIOS or in the Windows installation. I don't know what to do anymore.

The compatible M.2 SSD drive for your PHN16-71 model laptop is a Gen 4 x4 lane type M.2 SSD drive, the boot drive should be showing as HDD1 in bios, like your bios is showing above for the M.2 SSD Micron 3400 drive, so this drive should be detected 100% as a boot drive and Win-11 24h2 operating system should install on this if your installation USB has the PHN16-71 IRST version 19.5.1.1040 driver so that when you install Win-11 the Micron 3400 M.2 SSD can be detected, as otherwise the Micron 3400 M.2 SSD boot drive WILL NOT be detected.

I don't know why your Micron 3400 drive is not detected as all Gen 4 x4 lane drives should be detected in this laptop. I'm using the Samsung 990 Pro + Heatsink in my PHN16-71 and it works perfectly and 100% and its being detected as HDD1 (as shown installed below) as the boot drive. You must be doing something wrong or your laptop slots are faulty, which is very rare and very unusual and if it is, then take your laptop to a technician or if its under the Acer warranty still, then send the laptop to Acer Tech Support in your country. .

From your PHN16-71 bios above the Micron 3400 M.2 SSD drive is detected in the HDD1 slot and should be detected in win-11 in Disk Management as a Win-11 partitioned drive like in my laptop below. Good luck and hope this helps you out, as there is nothing else that we can advise you on this matetr.

Try this power reset: turn off the laptop, disconnect the charger, and hold the power button for 15 seconds.

Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

You use the IRST driver when you do a clean install of windows, you can't use it afterwards. So reinstall windows and when you get to the windows installation section at the below section shown in the caption, then at Load driver > load the IRST driver version 19.5.1.1040 for the PHN16-71 that you have on the installation USB, as then the IRST driver will install the proper M.2 SSD driver so that Win-11 will work perfectly with all M.2 SSD drives, its a very simple process, that is why you are having this M.2 SSD detection problem or your laptops M.2 slots are faulty.

Install the IRST version 19.5.1.1040 > Load driver down the bottom when you get to this section of the Win-11 installation:

Below is what your Win-11 24H2 files in the Rufus 4.6 bootable USB drive should look like for the PHN16-71 and its proper IRST_Intel_19.5.1.1040_W11x64 folder should be included on the Rufus 4.6 boot drive also. I don't know what you did but your caption doesn't look right. You can't install the IRST_Intel_19.5.1.1040_W11x64 on its own, you need to do this at the win-11 installation phase as if you do it as a stand alone installation is probably why you are getting the files above.

As the IRST driver installation of Win-11 operating system should look like the files caption below, and then you need to choose the IRST_Intel_19.5.1.1040_W11x64 folder and it should have a file called "Intel RST VMD Managed Controller 09AB" (see caption below) which is the proper IRST driver for the PHN16-71 laptop, so install that proper IRST file so that the M.2 SSD drive is recognized and you can continue the Win-11 24H2 installation. Good luck and hope this assists you further.

This is an example only and its from a Nitro AN515-56 laptop, but you should have something similar in the IRST_Intel_19.5.1.1040_W11x64 folder for the PHN16-71 laptop.
