Acer NitroV-ANV15-41-R2YY3-RAM Upgrade and Performance Issues

Good morning, All!

I recently finally purchase an Acer Nitro V (ANV15-41-R2YY3).

It came with:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS 3.30GHz
  • 16GB (8GBx2) DDR5 5600MHz RAM
  • GeForce RTX 4050 6GB
  • 512GB M.2

I purchased Crucial DDR5 5600MHz 32GB (16GBx2) as an upgrade after performance was fairly slow/terrible running Overwatch 2 and Marvel Rivals and Star Wars Outlaws. Not what I would think of as high requirement games. 3DMark score using several benchmarks were all terrible and blow "Budget Gaming Laptop".

However, I noticed the new RAM is not running at 5600MHz and bounces around in the 4000s. This is the second set of RAM I purchased too as the others had similar issue, and I figured it was the RAM. I've re-imaged and re-installed the RAM. Scores are just as terrible in 3DMark and still the terrible slow speeds running games. Also, the fans on this laptop seem to be fairly loud and annoying.

Any help? Hints? Possible tips/tricks? I used to have a desktop I built for gaming but gave to my son, wasn't looking to spend the $$$ to make another hah.

Greatly appreciated for any help!

These issues arise due to limited RAM. However, upgrading the RAM helps to improve overall performance. You can also try to restart it to see if the problem is fixed.

I increased the RAM, done multiple reboots, as well as a full wipe to get rid of the bloatware and everything else.

The RAM is still not reporting the correct speed, the games are still not running very well, and the 3DMark scores are terrible using multiple benchmarks.

And this is the 2nd set of 5600MHz RAM that I have tried. The original set was 5600MHz and reading properly…..but was only 16GB .

What RAM kit did you try before this crucial kit? Is it possible for you to return this RAM kit?

Do you have the Acer pre-installed RAM? Does your laptop work well when the Acer RAM is installed?

After getting all details and confirmation. I will tell you which ram to buy.

The previous set was Kingston Fury. That wouldn't run at 5600MHz either and gave horrible performance and scores.

I can return this one on Amazon as well if need be.

The original set was running at 5600MHz but gave horrible performance and scores as well.

I know the Ryzen 5 7534HS has it's limitations………..but I was hoping to get scores above average user PCs on 3DMark lol

Both RAM kits you brought are not suitable. The Kingston Fury is XMP RAM, which can cause instability, and the Crucial 5600MHz RAM is shown as JEDEC, but according to some users and websites, this RAM also uses XMP and can cause issues which was reported by many users.

Before recommending you compatible ram I need some information about your preinstalled ram.

    For these details-

Insert the original RAM kit that Acer provided, then download, install, and open CPU-Z. Go to the SPD tab and share a screenshot showing the occupied RAM slots.

Also, dual-channel 16GB RAM is not bad-many users see good performance, especially for multitasking and gaming. You might just need to optimize your Windows settings for better results.

Hi @CJM1984 according to the service manual, your computer runs on a maximum RAM of 4800 MHz.
You mention that it's running at 5600 MHz, but I don't know why. Where did you get that information?

In any case, the service manual itself lists these modules as compatible, so I assume it should support 5600 despite the information appearing about 4800.

The original RAM the laptop came with was DDR5 5600MHz so I just assumed it should support a 32GB set of the same speed.

I swapped the Crucial set out for the original set by Hynix. Ran some of the benchmarks and still terrible scores slightly above Office Laptop lol

I want to confirm one more information and check performance. So, Download and run UserBenchmark on your system

After opening UserBenchmark, perform the pre-benchmark test.

Click on "Ignore Problems" if prompted, and then start the full benchmark suite.

If you receive a "server full" message, completely close the application and try again.

The app may prompt you to purchase or upgrade to the Pro version. You do not need to buy or upgrade-just ignore these prompts.

If you continue to see the "server full" message, close UserBenchmark completely and try again. For most users, the app will eventually ask you to join a queue. When it does, click "Join Queue."

After a short wait (sometimes a small game may appear) when we click on queue, the benchmark will begin.

Once the benchmark is complete,Open results then copy the link to your results page and post it here.

    UserBenchmark completed: (https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/70229046)

Scores did not seem too happy on there.

Also, noticed CPU usage on this laptop seems to be fairly high even after the full wipe.

And the GPU seems to not stay dominant and defers to the integrated a lot even after changing settings in the nVidia control panel.
