I just got this monitor and really like it so far, but there's one big problem.

After a certain amount of time that the display is turned off or I've disconnected the USB-C cable to my Macbook Pro (2021 M1), the display won't be able to detect it. I need to unplug the power cable to the monitor and plug it back in. That's the only thing to get it to detect again. Then it's good until I either disconnect (after which it eventually automatically shuts off) or turn off the display manually and wait more than a certain number of minutes.

I'm made sure the cables are connected securely and that I'm using the provided USB-C cable. I've also tried another well rated Belkin cable that works with my other 4K monitor and the MacBook.

The fact that the monitor still connects if I don't wait a certain number of minutes made me feel like there's some power saving mode I can work around, so I tried enabling Quick Startup Mode, but that didn't help. It did skip the Predator logo and speed up the boot process, however.

Looks like there's only version 1.0 of the driver available.

Really hoping there's some fix, otherwise I'm going to need to return the monitor.

Yeah, I'd bet the Mac is turning the port off completely instead of sleeping it, or sleeping it and not turning it back on when the port again becomes active. Check to make sure there isn't power saving option set on the USB-C port…

    Thanks for the reply.

I'll comment on that and also give a short update after speaking with Acer support.

I don't think there is any power saving on the Macbook ports that would affect this because the problem happens to multiple Macbooks even just after awaking them from sleep and ensuring they are not in the general power saving mode (low battery mode on Mac). Aside from that, Mac doesn't have any power saving mode configurable for the ports specifically. Furthermore, this doesn't happen to my Macbook with any of my other 4k monitors. Thus it seems like the monitor is defective or doesn't work well with Macbooks, but I don't have a PC laptop to troubleshoot.

I did speak with Acer support and other than the usual tips of trying different cables and Macbooks, etc., they advised me to do a 30 second press of the power button with the monitor unplugged to do a "power reset". This unfortunately did not work. The only recourse is to send it back to them for warranty repair or return it to the retailer I purchased from. I am leaning towards the latter.

It's a shame though. This monitor is one of the few if not the only non-ultra-wide curved 4k monitor with high brightness.
