Good evening everyone, I recently changed my RAM from 16GB to 32 GB, however, I can't stop wondering about my question. In the pictures you can see 1 old RAM card. There is some black tape on it, which as I understand helps the memory card with cooling. Can you please tell me what it is called and if it can be purchased? Thanks in advance.

The black tape you're referring to on the memory modules or surrounding area is the thermal tape or thermal insulation tape. It is graphite thermal sheet attached to the inside of a black plastic film, which is adhered over the RAM module for passive cooling and heat spreading.

It is used to transfer heat from components like RAM to a heatsink or metal plate. Also for electromagnetic interference protection and to prevent electrical shorting or to secure components.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

The black tape on your old RAM card is likely thermal conductive adhesive tape or a thermal pad, which helps with heat dissipation. It transfers heat away from the memory module, improving cooling efficiency. You can find similar thermal adhesive tapes or pads designed for RAM cooling, ensuring better temperature management for your upgraded memory.
