Hey all,

Im wanting to buy a Acer UT272U monitor for use with a Dakboard setup at home.
I plan to run the monitor off a Linux based Raspberry Pi 5 8GB cpu.

I have read this monitor is not compatible with Linux OS? Does anyone know a way to run Linux on this monitor or get a driver to function correctly please!!

The Acer UT272U touchscreen monitor is generally compatible with Linux, but you might need to ensure the touch functionality is properly recognized. While some distributions, like Ubuntu, may support touchscreen out of the box, you might need to explore some options for configuring it, such as using Wayland or GNOME on Wayland for better multi-touch support.

    Basic Compatibility:
Linux has generally good support for touchscreen devices, including monitors, and has supported this since Kernel 3.8.
    Potential Issues:
While the display should work, the touchscreen functionality might not be immediately recognized or calibrated. You might need to adjust settings in the desktop environment or try different configurations.
    Recommendations:
Wayland and GNOME: Using GNOME on Wayland has been recommended for good multi-touch support, including gestures.
Debian/Ubuntu: These distributions are known for good touchscreen support, but you might still need to explore settings.
Raspberry Pi: If you're running a Linux-based Raspberry Pi 5, you might need to manually configure the touchscreen.
