from one day to the next my monitor (xb283kkv) stopped working at 1440p with the 120hz with my xbox series x. I was able to run these monitor settings before with no issues and now I can't even configure the settings with my Xbox. I lose signal even trying the lower settings when opening the games that support 120hz. please help.

Ensure your HDMI cable is secure and try a different HDMI port on the monitor and Xbox. If that doesn't work, check your monitor and Xbox settings for correct resolution and refresh rate, and consider updating your monitor's firmware.

I wonder if they did an update to the Xbox that changed the way it sends video out at the higher frequencies?

so i did do the monitor test where you unplug the power and hdmi cable and hold down the power button and suprise to me it actually worked. once i unplugged all the cable i held down the power button for a continuous 40 sec or so, plugged everything back in, turned on the console and went straight to the display settings and it worked. i was able to keep 1440 at 120hz, 4k at 120hz and even restarted the xbox to see if the display settings would stay as i left them and they did. 1440p at 120hz for the W!!!

@jack 22 i did try using the other hdmi 2.0 port but it still did not make a change

@billsey i dont think they sent out any updates recently that would have made a change like that

About this problem you had I believe it was a momentary one where maybe the HDMI cable for some reason got unplugged from the TV or the console, but don't worry it's not a problem you should worry about, but I recommend that if this keeps happening frequently, try clearing the console cache following the instructions below.

You can also hard reset the Xbox console and its cache. Here is how to do so:

Step 1. Press and hold the Xbox button on the console for at least 10 seconds to open the Power center.

Step 2. Then unplug the power supply from your console and wait for 3 minutes.

Step 3. Plug the power supply back into the Xbox console.

Step 4. Press the Xbox button on the console to turn it on again.

    Hope this helps.

@Axxo this problem i had lasted a while, i didnt necessarily have the amount of free time to do a long troubleshoot process but i did try unplugging the hdmi cables, cleaning the connection points, changing cables, resetting the monitor to factory settings, checking the xbox for anything abnormal in the settings, ect. It wasnt until i performed the monitor self test funtion where you unplug everything from it and hold the power button down for the resolution settings to actually be applied.
