Good day! I have an Acer laptop Extensa 2508 series. It turns on when i press the power button, but no display. The blue power LED keeps on blinking like the laptop is in sleep mode. I tried reseating and changing the RAM module and it did not work. I also tried to reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery and long pressing the power button and putting it back and turning on the laptop again, but it did not work. Also tried removing the battery to power it up using the charger alone and it did not work again. I tried using the pin hole to restart now it is now powering on or blinking the blue light. Please help with other possible solutions to this problem.

Hi, try to reset CMOS and reseat or replace the RAM module: Open the back of the laptop and disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard. Locate the CMOS module and remove the coin battery. Shorten the +/- terminals inside the CMOS capsule for 2 seconds with a bended paperclip and put the coin battery back with the + sign facing up, close the CMOS capsule. Next, press the Power Button on the keyboard for 10-15 seconds and unseat the RAM module, if you have a spare RAM module install that or reseat the old RAM module firmly in the slot, after that reconnect the battery cable to the motherboard. Close the laptop, plug-in the adapter and try to boot.

Do a hard reset of your Extensa 2508 laptop, as usually what happens is that the EC and chipset chips freeze and corrupt the startup files of the OS, a hard reset is the only way to properly reset the laptop, as if a hard reset doesn't fix this issue, there could be other problems like an eDP cable or the actual screen is faulty.

Hard Reset - Remove the screws securing the lower case to the upper case of the laptop, starting from the upper side, pry to release the upper side latches, continue releasing the remaining latches. Then remove the lower case.

Disconnect the main battery cable from the mobo and take the main battery out. then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and short the battery + & - pins at its round case with a metal screwdriver (see caption below) and then take the 1x ram module out.

Leave the laptop like that for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight) so that the laptop resets and then reconnect everything, as afterwards the laptop should turn on and boot properly. if it doesn't, then you have to consult a technician so they can pinpoint the problem. The blinking battery status light tells us it thinks the battery is in a failure mode. That is often due to corrupted data within the battery itself. You can test for that by disconnecting everything, then press and hold the battery reset button for 15-30 seconds. Release and wait for 15-30 minutes to allow time for any residual to bleed off. Connect only the charger and wait for a full battery indication, and only then try turning it back on.

Rather than shorting pin on a CMOS battery connector, the 2508 has a CMOS reset on the motherboard:

It seems like your Acer Laptop’s Kernel has not been Restarted or has been overloaded. Let me tell you some Solutions which you can perform if you face this issue.

1> Perform Forceful Shutdown: Try Forceful Shutdown by Pressing the Powwer button in the Laptop or Simply turn off the UPS or Current Supply (in Desktop). This would Restart the Kernal Forcefully.

2> Check for Ram Issues: When there is a Display Issue, there is some connection between the Display and the Ram (I prefer not saying the Explanation because its quite complicated to tell you about it!)

3> Normal Shutdown: Try normal Shutdown (I know you will think that how normal shutdown is possible if the Display is not visible). Let me tell you the Procedure, First Press Win+X and then press “U” button 3 times. This will lead to normal Shutdown of the system.

4> Resetting Graphics Card: This is a Simple Technique in which you need to Press “Win + Ctrl + Shift + B”. This will reset your Graphics Card Driver.

5> Check for Processor Issues: Sometimes the Heat Sink of the Processor doesn’t work properly due to which the Screen turns black and the CPU doesn’t Respond. In this case try for the 1st Solution given in this List i.e. Forceful Shutdown. Also if your Heat Sink is not working Properly then try Replacing it!
