Hello,

I have an Acer monitor SNID XXXXXXXXXXX. When I input the cable into the type C Port, on my computer, I get a message in control panel devices that it is an unknown USB device (see screenshot). I attempted to download the driver from the acer website but under driver and downloads, there were only PDF documents and no driver, can you advise what to do next? I have an HP laptop, windows 10

What computer do you have? Are you sure the USB-C port supports DP Alt Mode for video transmission? Some laptop designs do not, and most desktop designs do not. Do you have something like an HDMI or DP port to test with?

    Thanks Billsey, I have a an HP laptop LAPTOP-797NN6LH. Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1035G1 CPU @ 1.00GHz (1.20 GHz). 12.0 GB (11.7 GB usable). 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I am not sure if the USB-C port supports DP Alt Mode for video transmission. How could I test it?

There should be a model number for your HP on the sticker underneath that usually has the S/N on it as well. A quick internet search suggests it might be a 15-dw2656cl. With that and your serial number you can go to the HP website and get the full specs. You are looking for either video output support on the USB-C or Thunderbolt version for that port…
