Hello! I have recently been given my mom's old aspire 5742z, but it doesnt work. I have the original charger, which does work. I've checked the battery, no bulge or damage, connecters are good too. But it does show (Minimal) life if I plug in HDMI? when i plug in HDMI from ps4, the cd/DVD drive has a green led light up, but that's it. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks guys!

    Try a power reset.

Disconnect the power cord from both the laptop and the wall outlet. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
Turn the laptop upside down and locate the battery. Slide the lock tab to the unlock position, then slide and hold the release tab while removing the battery.
With the AC adapter disconnected and the battery removed, hold down the power button for approximately 30 seconds.
Turn the laptop back over and slide the battery back into place, ensuring it's securely locked in.
Plug the power cord back into both the laptop and the wall outlet.
Press the power button to turn the laptop back on.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊
