Acer helios 300 survived spills, kicks and overheating, but a flimsy DC jack finally killed it

I'm about to tell you a story about survival and an Achilles heel.

I recently "upgraded" from my battle hardened Helios 300 (i7-12700H, RTX 3060) to another laptop (another brand) with an RTX 4060. Sounds like an upgrade, right? Wrong. The Helios is putting better FPS in most games despite the 4060 running at full tdp, the helios had a sturdier feel, and just worked—even after everything I put it through.

Let me paint a picture for you:

I spilled orange juice, water, and even Taco Bell grease into that thing.

My little brother has kicked it with a soccer ball more times than there are atoms in the universe.

I've dropped it on concrete, screen plastic is missing, bottom panel’s gone, a few fan blades are missing, and the ones left are choked with dust.

CPU and GPU running at 103c for hours? Just another Tuesday.

I’m pretty sure the thermal paste turned into burnt toast last year.

And despite all this, the thing hasn't missed a beat, acer didn't build just a laptop, they built a cockroach with a cpu and gpu

BUT.

The one thing that killed it? That stupid, flimsy, cheap, banana-shaped DC jack.

It’s failed multiple times. Replaced, resoldered, jiggled, i even prayed for it. The only failure point on this tank of a laptop was that cursed power jack.

If Acer made that same Helios again with a proper, durable charging port, literally any kind. I’d buy it again without hesitation. Because as far as I'm concerned, that laptop earned its place in gaming Valhalla, like seriously who actually designed this thing? It is so *****, the first time i got it replaced it worked for 2 weeks before giving out, alright well i ordered the part from a different vendor on ebay and went to a different repair shop, about 10 days in, failed again, the original lasted almost 2 years before totally shutting down, although after the first year i had to move the cable in different spots for it to charge so it got worse over time.

Fix the jack, Acer. You built a beast. Don’t kill it with a noodle
