Acer Aspire TC-1760 PC boots but hangs with black spots and continuous beep, what's the fix?

We have 2 Acer Aspire TC-1760. One is performing as it should, the other one is not. The problem-PC boots, but after just a few minutes, the screen shows black spots (see attachment), and the computer "hangs".

Rebooting sometimes helps for a minute, but then it hangs again. Even when no programs are started…The newest 'partytrick' is a continuous beep when power is on the computer.

What can we do? Should we replace the memory? Videocard? Whole PC? It is weird because the identical other PC runs smoothly, and we try to have everything the same on both pc's. Any help is appreciated…

Try these troubleshooting steps: start with a hard reset, then check for loose connections, and finally, try booting into Safe Mode or accessing the BIOS to isolate the issue.

    Hard Reset:
Unplug: Disconnect the power cord from the PC and any external devices (keyboard, mouse, etc.).
Hold Power Button: Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
Replug: Reconnect the power cord and any external devices, then power on the PC.

RAM: Ensure your RAM modules are securely seated in their slots. If possible, try reseating them or swapping them to different slots.
    Hard Drive/SSD:
If you have a separate hard drive or SSD, make sure it's properly connected to the motherboard and power supply.
Display Cable: Ensure the monitor cable is securely connected to both the PC and the monitor.

Boot into Safe Mode: Restart the PC multiple times, attempting to access the Advanced Boot Option
Safe Mode: If you can access the Advanced Boot Options, select "Safe Mode" to boot into a minimal environment.
Troubleshooting: If the PC boots and runs normally in Safe Mode, the issue is likely with a driver or software program.

    Access the BIOS:
Restart: Restart the PC and try to access the BIOS (usually by pressing F2, F12, or Delete during startup).
Check Settings: Review the BIOS settings for any unusual or incorrect configurations.
Reset BIOS: If necessary, reset the BIOS to its default settings.

If all else fails, consider reinstalling Windows as a last resort.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

You mention a continuous beep in the title, but not in your post… A continuous beep at boot time shows a memory failure during POST. There were a bunch of different flavors of the TC-1760 models. What were the options on the ones you purchased? CPU, memory size, SSD size, GPU card or not? The dots could also be a memory issue if you don't have a dedicated GPU card. You might try reseating the memory and if that doesn't change anything try swapping the memory from one system to the other. Once you can pin it down, likely to the memory, then just replace the stock memory with the same size and speed. IIRC they came with 4GB, 8GB and 16GB memory configurations, and support 32GB at the top end. It's DDR4 3200MHz DDR4 DIMMs, not XMP.
