Veriton X2720G Won't POST after reboot, two beeps and no display, how to repair BIOS?

Hi,

I have the above computer, it was up and functional, I rebooted and now the computer will not POST. I get two beeps when it powers on - the first is slightly longer than the second which indicates a BIOS issue. No display shows on the screen at all.

I've disconnected all peripherals (ram/hdd & cmos) given it 20 minutes, reconnected and still the same. I've read several posts (although they are old posts) on how to "repair" the BIOS but none of them resolve the issue.

Any suggestions as to how I can repair the BIOS? It's still under warranty so I could send it for repair, but I'd like to get it up and running if that's possible.

Thanks,

Gary

This issue likely stems from a memory problem or a corrupted BIOS. Attempting to repair the BIOS yourself could potentially void your warranty, so proceed with caution and only if you're comfortable with the risks.

The best course of action is to contact the Acer support for guidance, as they have the resources and expertise to handle this situation. Acer Support & Service

Here are the beep codes for your Veriton:

So the long, short beeps do indicate a BIOS failure. Your system is new enough that it doesn't have a CMOS chip per se, but uses SPI to interface to a ROM chip instead. It does still use a coin cell battery to keep the real time clock active. You can reset the cached data for the ROM with a CMOS clear:

Disconnect everything, especially the power cord, then move the jumper to the clear position, wait 30 seconds or so, then move in back to normal. Reconnect everything and try to boot it up again. If it fails with the same error then the ROM will likely need to be reprogrammed, and that means a trip to the service center…
