ACER ASPIRE LAPTOP NOT CHARGING [ORANGE AND BLUE LIGHT BLINKING SIMULTANEOUSLY WHEN PLUGGED IN]

hello, i've been experiencing this a few times now. when plugging my charger in, the orange light started to blink first and eventually the blue light started to join, and it won't charge.

last time, i was trying to charge my laptop it while updating it, when it started to do that again, but trying to change the charging outlet in the house, it worked steadying the orange light but now when i try it again (except the updating the windows, because it's fully updated) it won't charge again, i am panicking because i have some things to do with my laptop this week, and i have no other spare of chargers. is there anything i can do to fix this at home first? incase i can't go to the technician this week or so. thank you!

please let me know asap. :( and can you tell me what causes it? i take good caee of my laptop but suddenly it happens..

Check the volts out of the adapter.

As I remember a 9 volt adapter should read about 17 volts unplugged.

If you can check it when it's plugged in then it'll check 9 or 12 V depending on the size of the battery.

I'm not a moderator BUT this post should be in the laptop section and state a model # etc.

What is your laptops model number as that would help? Your laptops charging issues could be from numerous things, like a faulty EC chip or a locked battery that its fuse has shorted and needs repairing and unlocking or the laptops charging phase regulator is faulty and needs inspecting and appropriate parts changed.

Try to do a hard reset first and see if that will fix this issue? To do a hard reset do this:

Take the main battery out and disconnect the bios battery, with the bios battery and at its mobo plug, short the +&- pins to reset CMOS and then take the ram out (if it has removable ram) leave the laptop like that for 1 hour so that the laptop resets and then reconnect everything back, as afterwards the laptop should boot and charge as its EC chip that determines and regulates charging has been reset if it was frozen.

if all the above doesn't work, its best to take your laptop to a technician that can unlock the battery and/or fix the charging phase issues, as to fix this laptop you need special tools and expertise as it snot a matter of resetting anything software wise.

Yes, there have been … several … different Aspire laptops since they were first released in 2017. :) Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like xxxxx-xxx-xxxx. Different models may have different reasons for flashing those lights, though usually it indicates a battery failure of some type.
