Hello, I have an Acer nitro 5 specifically AN515-57 and recently, ive been experiencing extreme fps drops while gaming, i'd go from 144 fps constantly to 4 FPS out of nowhere, the pc would be running completely normally for 20 minutes and then just dropping to really low FPS, and it wouldnt just be in the game, it would also effect the entire PC itself. The only way it would go back to normal is by force shutting down the PC. Ive tried everything from upgrading my graphics drivers to cleaning out my fans, but nothing has worked. I have even ordered brand new fans incase the ones I have right now are faulty. If anyone has an idea on what could be going on, I'd greatly appreciate the help.

EDIT: I have a intel i7-11800H with a Geforce RTX 3060 laptop GPU and 16 gb of DDR4-3200 MT/S

It would depend on the type of game and settings of your laptop. Aspire 5 is not designed to be a full on gaming laptop and your laptop can struggle to dissipate extra heat efficiently, leading to components throttling (reducing performance) to prevent damage.

it's a good idea to consider using a cooling pad, especially during extended gaming sessions. A cooling pad can help to lower temperatures and prevent throttling, potentially improving FPS and overall performance .

Consider undervolting the CPU and GPU to reduce heat.
    Adjust Graphics Settings:
Lower graphics settings within the game to reduce the workload on your hardware.

    NVIDIA Control Panel:
In the NVIDIA Control Panel, change the power management mode to "Prefer Maximum Performance".
Enable a frame rate limiter in the NVIDIA Control Panel to prevent the GPU from pushing too many frames, which can lead to stuttering. Experiment with enabling or disabling Vertical Sync (V-Sync).
Use GeForce Experience to optimize your games for your hardware.

    Other Troubleshooting Steps:
Ensure your RAM is running in dual-channel mode (2x RAM modules).

Reinstall Windows: As a last resort, consider reinstalling Windows.

If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue, and you should contact Acer support or a qualified technician.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

High temperatures might indicate thermal throttling.

Visit Acer’s Support Page to update your BIOS and firmware, as updates can resolve stability issues.

Go to Control Panel > Power Options, select High Performance to prevent performance drops caused by power-saving settings.

Ensure you are using the original Acer power adapter and that it is functioning correctly, as inadequate power can lead to performance issues.

Close unnecessary background applications to free up system resources.

Reduce in-game settings, such as resolution, textures, and shadows, temporarily to lessen the strain on your GPU and assess if performance improves.

Elevate your laptop by placing two books or similar objects underneath to improve airflow and reduce overheating.
