PO3-655 i7 14700F to i5 14400f programmed in BIOS for the exact CPU, So Its stuck on the reboot loop

I know it seems crazy to downgrade from an i7 14700f to an i5 14400f but I do have a good reason for the swap. My issue is that ACER prebuilt systems i guess are only programmed in BIOS for the exact CPU they come with, while most MBs can adjust as long as they are the same gen CPU

So, Its stuck on the reboot loop and will not fully power on. From what I am getting, it could be a power issue in BIOS which would mean I would have to reinstall the i7 14700f, update the bios to distribute less power to the CPU for the i5 14400f, turn off and then swap it out. Has anyone ever done this and do you know where I can get the BIOS update

Which model desktop do you have? is it a Nitro N50-656 model that has an i5-14 or a i7-14700 cpu options or is it a Predator PO3-655 model that has cpu options of an i5-14400 or a i5-14400F and its highest cpu the i7 14700F options, give us the exact desktop model that you are talking about.

Acer prebuild desktops ARE NOT "only programmed in BIOS for the exact CPU they come with" Acer bios is programed for all the desktop model prebuilt range for and like what type of cpu's they are fitted with, be it an i5, i7 or i9 cpu's that it has, there is no specific bios that only works for one cpu as the CPU microcode is the same. Do not change your oem i7-14700F cpu for a lower i5-14400F (see the comparison between the two cpu's here) as you will lose 100% of cpu performance downgrading from the i7 to the i5 cpu and its not a real smart thing to do.

It is a PO3-655. Reason for the switch is because I built another PC and I am using the i7 in it, because yes, it is a way better CPU. I figured since I had the PO3-655 still around, I would put an i5 and another GPU in it and give it to my son to use for some light gaming and task.

Throughout all my research, it said the CPUs should be compatible. However, it is stuck in a reboot loop. Decided to ask Grok AI to see what it said, and it said it could be an issue with the power distro to the CPU due to the i7 drawing more power than the i5, and that some "prebuilts" will not recognize and need some update done in bios. Meaning I would have to reinstall the i7 and do the update. I saw it kind of odd as well, and figured I would ask the chat here

If you still have the old i7 CPU that came with the machine, try to reinstall it and update the BIOS.

Very likely the reboot loop has nothing to do with the change in CPU. Can you get into the BIOS? Where does the boot fail and does it make any beeps? Acer shipped PO3-655 units with both the i5 and i7 CPUs, so there's nothing programmed into the BIOS to reject either.
