I am having an issue that my microphone seems to be blocked. Laptop, Bluetooth and USB. Reinstalled all audio drivers, with no success. Microsoft suggested to get a new driver. Current version is 2022, as on driver download section.

It is not app specific. Even Windows does not show mic activity when I run the mic test.

If your microphone seems blocked, check if you've accidentally muted it, verify microphone access permissions in Windows settings, and ensure your audio driver is up-to-date.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:-

    1. Check for Mute:
      Physical Mute Switch:
If you're using a headset or external microphone, make sure the physical mute switch isn't engaged.
      Software Mute:
In the application you're using (e.g., Zoom, Teams), check if the microphone is muted.
    2. Verify Microphone Access Permissions:
      Windows Settings:
Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security.
Click on "Microphone" under "App permissions".
Ensure "Let apps access your microphone" is turned on.
Review which apps have microphone access and allow/deny access as needed.
      App Specific Settings:
Some applications might have their own microphone access settings. Check the application's settings to ensure microphone access is enabled.
    3. Update Audio Driver:
      Device Manager:
      Press Windows key + X.
      Select "Device Manager".
      Expand "Audio inputs and outputs".
Right-click on your microphone device and select "Update driver".
      Choose "Search automatically for drivers".
      Manufacturer Website:
If automatic updates don't work, visit your computer or microphone manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for your specific device.
    4. Run the Windows Troubleshooter:
      Windows Settings:
Go to Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot.
Click on "Recording Audio" and then "Run the troubleshooter".
      Follow the on-screen instructions.
    5. Test with Different Applications:
Try using your microphone in different applications to see if the problem is specific to one application or a general issue.
    6. Check for Hardware Issues:
      Physical Connections:
Make sure the microphone is properly plugged in and the cable is not damaged.
      External Devices:
If you're using an external microphone, ensure it's powered on and functioning correctly.

Ensure that the audio drivers are updated from the Acer Support page specific to your laptop model. Verify microphone access in Settings > Privacy > Microphone and allow apps to use it. Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter in Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot to identify and fix issues. Restart the "Windows Audio" and "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder" services through services.msc and set their startup type to "Automatic." If the problem persists across all microphones, test with a different external microphone or consider performing a system restore to a point when the microphone was functioning.
