Hello everyone, so in November 2023, I bought Acer Swift 3 (Sf314-512), I had high hopes with the machine to run perfectly fine for atleast 2-3 years, it's a normal expectation in my opinion. It has a lot of problems from the beginning itself, within 2-3 months it had some battery issue, it was turning off even when it had battery left, I contacted the support they said it's normal just calibrate it, I was okay with it. Going forward to September 2024, it got a screen flicker issue out of nowhere, the company took more than 1.5 months to solve this issue, September 28 complaint lodged, I got my laptop finally done on November 19, and I received the laptop with a non working camera, the technician said they replaced wires and the camera itself but it's not working, I updated the windows and it worked, can't call out their team, whatever. Now, it was working fine, but on 6th March, I turned it on and plugged the charger, it charged for a while and then stopped, I tried every measure by myself, using different adapter as it is a type-c charging laptop, resetting the battery and uninstalling and reinstalling battery drivers, updating the windows. The original adapter is working fine. I mailed the support and they sent a technician, after checking everything and opening the laptop, he said it's motherboard fault, I had the warranty extended so it will be zero cost for me, but I am afraid it'll take a lot of time again and being a college student, I'll need to use my laptop unplugged in college for assignments and even practical exams. I have completely lost trust in this brand and worried about motherboard replacement as it may cause another issues in the future. It has been emotionally demanding as well after spending such amount for a product. Looking out for your views.

The Swift SF314-512 model laptop is a really good 14” portable laptop that for its size and specs work very well and shouldn’t overheat also, as its only got the cpu graphics to work with and has a very substantial thermal module and fans and shouldn’t have any issues especially with batteries, as that could have been an EC chip freezing issue and needed a hard reset or the mobo was faulty which they should have replace the first time.

I’ve got a very similar Swift SFX14-51G that is a bit higher spec than your Swift and it has the exact cpu that your SF314-512 has which is the intel i7-1260P cpu but my Swift has soldered 16GB LDDR5 and an RTX3050 NVidia dedicated gpu and the Intel Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics, while your SF314-512 has just the same cpu with soldered either 8GB/16GB LPDDR4X type ram. I’ve never had problems with my SFX14-51G laptop that runs Win-11 24H2 OS build: 26100.3323, my son also uses it for his school and he’s very happy with the 14” small size aspect of this laptop, which is what Acer designed this laptop for.

I suggest that you make sure that Acer fixes all issues with your Swift SF314-512 model, with changing that mainboard and make sure that the battery, camera is also working 100% and the battery is fully working and charging, install Win-11 24H2 and make sure that your update this version to OS build: 26100.3323 which is the last build and also make sure that the last bios 1.14 is installed for proper functioning of this laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
